Masterplan Eich-Mühlenbach
What is it?
The idea of a "Masterplan" came from our wish to improve the quality of life for residents of this neighbourhood. It quickly became clear to us that in spite of the variety of problems encountered, we needed a global project in order to be able to make viable proposals within a coherent framework and have a chance to change things.
The Masterplan is above all a project that belongs to the residents. We have identified 5 main components on which to work in groups, and plan to organise general and specific meetings so that everyone can contribute their ideas and skills to the project.
Components of the Masterplan
Traffic Safety
Following the letter sent in February 2026 and the responses provided by the VdL, this group will aim to identify what needs to be improved, and which actions/initiatives could be implemented to ensure everyone’s safety.
Economic Dynamism
This group's goal will be to think about how best to promote economic activity in our neighbourhood, whether through the installation of pop-up stores, reflecting on the empty buildings, setting up open markets, etc.
Green Spaces
This group will focus on available green spaces, and the possibility of adding new ones (i.e. community gardens, tree planting). Improving our resilience towards floods and heatwaves will also need to be discussed.
Architectural heritage
Our neighbourhood has many protected buildings that are unfortunately abandoned. The aim of this group will be to find ways to preserve and promote this heritage, by reflecting on the use of these empty buildings.
Social Inclusion
We are lucky to live in a neighbourhood with great cultural diversity. This group's goal will be to reflect on how to highlight this diversity, as well as how to address the remaining challenges in terms of integration and participation.
